Our New year’s event, a whole night meditation sit we cal Jhanathon was a very inspiring experience for everyone involved.
Santi looked a bit like a tent city for a couple of days with the large number of people who were very keen to see just how far they can go. As you can see from the pictures of morning after breakfast – all of us survived…..

This last Monday, Ruwinie, a long standing supporter and a guest here at Santi, has decided to take the plunge and try it out as an anagarika.
From now on she will shave her head, wear white and eat her meals upstairs with the sangha. If it will feel right for her – the next step is ordaining as samaneri.

Sayalay Dipankara, the famous meditation teacher, is going to teach a samatha & vipassana retreat in Jhana grove, Perth from 9th to 17th of June, 2012.

Kathina at Santi

On a sunny Sunday at the end of October we had celebrated the end of the rains retreat with the traditional Kathina ceremony. At the time of the Buddha it was when the monks and nuns would sew their new robes and in some countries this custom is still practised. Here we get them offered……

Bhante Sujato will be leading a workshop on buddhist practices on 12 November 2011 from 3pm to 5:30pm at the Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Newcastle.  The workshop will be followed by a Dhamma talk at 6pm. Location : Level 2/372 King St. Newcastle 2300.

All are welcome. Please bring a folding chair or meditation cushion to sit.
