Santipada is a platform for Buddhist writing. Through Santipada we make available writings and research on various aspects of Buddhism, with a special emphasis on those things that tend to get left out elsewhere.
A word in advance: unlike many teachers, whose books are often an edited and polished version of what they talk about, I tend to write about precisely those things that can’t be easily addressed in the more informal, spontaneous environment of a Dhamma talk. The writings here emphasize my research projects over the past several years, when I have looked into the roots that underlie our Buddhist traditions.
Publishers
Most of the books on this site have been previously published elsewhere for free distribution, and some have been translated (into German and Indonesian). If anyone wants to reprint, publish, or otherwise make available these works, including making translations, without making any substantial changes to either content or form, permission is freely given. You don’t have to ask me for further permission, although of course I would like to know what’s going on. If you would like to publish while making changes to the books in terms of content or layout, you must ask permission first.
The files included in the main website are not ideal for printing, as they include a few details like colored links. The best files for publishers are included here. These compressed files include: pdfs optimized for printing, original TeX files from which the pdfs were produced, and the original graphics files for the cover (in the GIMP’s .xcf format). I also upload the sans-serif font I used for these books, Open Sanskrit. This is an extension of Open Sans, with added glyphs for Pali/Sanskrit.

Buddhist Global Relief
If you feel grateful for the writings offered freely here, and would like to give something back, I’d like to encourage you to consider donating to Buddhist Global Relief. This is a wonderful charitable body set up under the guidance of Bhikkhu Bodhi and other great Buddhist leaders. Of course, its aims follow the Buddhist ideals to benefit all living beings, not just Buddhists! I have added a link to Global Buddhist Relief’s donation page at the right of all Santipada posts. Please give, out of compassion and in hope to ease the suffering of others.
Santipada is in no way affiliated with Buddhist Global Relief. I just think it’s a great initiative and want to support it.
Yours in Dhamma
Bhante Sujato
