Those who’ve been around Santi in the past while will perhaps be aware of some changes taking place at the monastery. With the blessing of Ajahn Brahm (Santi’s Spiritual Director), Ayya Nirodha is now moving more and more into retreat/retirement mode after giving much valuable time and energy to support Santi FM over these last few years in residence. Ayya is very much appreciative of this opportunity, and also for the support and skills that new Samaneris Jitindriyā and Jayasāra are now providing at Santi Monastery, and feels confident in the future of Santi as a practice place for nuns in the Forest Tradition.
Also with Ajahn Brahm’s full support and blessings, Ayya Jitindriyā has been moving into the leadership role at Santi# as Ayya Nirodha steps back. Jitindriyā has had 17 years previous experience as a nun in the Theravada Forest tradition, (having taken ordination in the UK with Ajahn Sumedho in 1988), and has recently re-entered the monastic sangha at Santi, wishing to preserve and support the forest dwelling life for Bhikkhunis here.
Our community’s focus more recently has been to set-up and streamline the processes and procedures that support the daily functioning of Santi FM, both on the administrative and technical side of things as well as on the community side of things. With only a small community in residence this can be a slow process, however everyone feels confident in the changes made so far and the direction that Santi is moving in – continuing to establish a place of refuge in the Dhamma, and a place for quiet cultivation of the Buddha’s noble path of practice and realisation.
May all beings realise the truth of the peace and freedom from suffering that lies at the heart of this Dhamma.
