On Saturday (19th May) we had a fantastic group from the Vietnamese community in Canberra and two from Sydney who came for a mini working bee at the monastery. Not only did they get straight to work on a land-care and painting project in the morning but they also brought mountains of fresh produce for the community, and cooked up a banquet in the kitchen as well!
After having to post-pone the event the weekend prior due to inclement weather, we were fortunate to have a lovely sunny autumn day this time, which made being out in the elements and amongst nature that much more enjoyable. We hope all who came to offer their time and efforts so generously to the monastery also enjoyed the opportunity of being and working together – so much more can be accomplished with ease when many hands help. The group were able to complete the painting of Ayya Nirodha’s yurt, clear a large patch of regrowth and dead wood along the driveway up to the main entrance, and Tan and Sam from Sydney were able to do some road maintenance with the help of a bob-cat.
With deep thanks and appreciation to you all for your kindness, generosity and good hearts in offering your support. Also to our resident lay guests for their help in the projects that day as well. Ever helpful and giving, they are very much appreciated.
May the merit (cultivated goodness) arising from your generous actions bring you manifold blessings, and nurture joy and peace in your hearts.
