About Ajahn Brahmali
Ajahn Brahmali is a resident monk at Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth. Born in Norway in 1964, Ajahn Brahmali became interested in Buddhism and meditation in his early 20s. Having completed his Masters in both Engineering and Finance, he became a fully ordained monk in 1996 with Ajahn Brahm as his preceptor and guide.
Ajahn Brahmali is renowned for his knowledge of the Pali language and of the Suttas. Bhikkhu Bodhi, who translated most of the Pali Canon into English, called Ajahn Brahmali one of his major helpers. He has completed the only full translation of the Vinaya Piṭaka (Monastic Law) into English, which is to be included in the Royal Thai Tipiṭaka. He has also published a number of essays, including the book “The Authenticity of the Early Buddhist Texts” in collaboration with Bhante Sujato. Most of his publications are available online at www.bswa.org. He travels extensively in Australia, Asia, Europe and USA to share his knowledge and experience through dhamma talks and retreats and has a large number of followers around the world. In 2023 he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to Buddhist studies.
