Bhante Sujato Visiting

We are delighted to share that Bhante Sujato, founding Abbot and legend of Santi Forest Monastery intends to visit very soon. His visit will be highly valued by us all, especially during this stage of the monastic community re-forming after Santi being closed for the last three months. Having retired as Abbot, Bhante Sujato now resides at Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth and spends much time working on Sutta Central (awesome is an understatement).

(Anicca not withstanding!) Bhante Sujato will be here all day on the 4th and 5th of November and depart on the morning of the 6th of November.

The monastics currently staying at Santi are: Venerable Nibbida, Venerable Dhammadhira, Venerable Patacara and Venerable Canda.

Long term people are: Vimala Anagarika, Samvaro and Dana.

We would like to extend a particular warm welcome to Venerable Dhammadhira Bhikkhuni. Prior to kindly coming to Santi, she was staying at Mahapajapati Monastery in California. Venerable Dhammadhira has many years experience in monasteries, including as a Siladhara Nun in the English monasteries of Amaravati and Chithurst. Her presence is a blessing indeed.

In other news, Venerable Adhimutta Bhikkhuni, the first woman to ‘go forth’ as a Samaneri (Novice Nun) at Santi has a flight to come to Santi  on November 29. It will be our pleasure in welcoming her to spend time back at Santi.

  1. I think women are very appreciative of the legacy Bhante Sujato has left behind.
Being fundamental in setting up a successful Nunnery run by women is certainly worthy Dhamma practise .
