The community at Santi are very happy to be able to host the monks’ community from Wat Buddha Dhamma since they evacuated last week due to the fires that burned through Dharug National Park. Fortunately, it seems the main buildings at the Wat are still in tact; however they lost 3 kutis, a few caravans, and an amenities block to the fire.
Some of the monks will be able to go and have a look at the Wat later this week to assess the damage and discern the next step to getting the place functioning again. The main concern is lingering smoke in the area for now, and only residents and emergency workers are allowed into the park for the time being.
