{"id":2085,"date":"2012-11-08T04:37:21","date_gmt":"2012-11-08T04:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/santifm.org\/santi\/?p=2085"},"modified":"2012-11-19T05:01:11","modified_gmt":"2012-11-19T05:01:11","slug":"kathina-on-the-18-th-of-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/santifm.org\/santi\/2012\/11\/08\/kathina-on-the-18-th-of-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Kathina on the 18 th of November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Dear friends of Santi,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Again, we would like to invite you to celebrate with us one of the largest events in a Buddhist monastery&#8217;s calendar: the Kathina, or robe offering ceremony.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Program for Sunday, the 18 th of November:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a05:00 am \u00a0 Meditation for early arrivals, followed by 6:00 am chanting and 6:30 am breakfast;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a09:30 am \u00a0 Arrival at Santi Forest Monastery;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">10:00 am \u00a0Dhamma talk given by monastics;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">11:00 am \u00a0Offering of meal dana to the Sangha, followed by lunch for everyone (all are welcome to bring a dish of food);<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">12:30 pm \u00a0Robe offering ceremony with blessings from the Sangha and Paritta chanting;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a02:00 pm \u00a0 End of the ceremony.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">In the morning or after the program feel free to have a bush walk, go to the big cave and meditate, or visit the waterfall in the adjacent national park, or stay on the grounds for tea and a chat with the monastics.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">We welcome you and hope you will have a wonderful day at Santi. We are looking forward to meeting you here and rejoice in your goodness and friendship.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">For those friends who come and join us for the grand day&#8217;s preparations on the day before (Saturday the 17 th), we have tea time at <em>6:00 pm<\/em> and evening meditation at <em>7:00 pm<\/em>. Next morning we will be there for group meditation at<em> 5:00 am<\/em>. There are currently about 30 members on a list \u00a0kept by the committee. Only members can vote at an Annual General Meeting and stand for the committee. The committee has five members and is the legal body that manages the Incorporated Association and it has its own constitution.
