{"id":8323,"date":"2019-07-14T04:56:36","date_gmt":"2019-07-14T04:56:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/santifm.org\/santi\/?p=8323"},"modified":"2019-12-02T04:29:01","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T04:29:01","slug":"santi-kathina-celebrations-20th-october-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/santifm.org\/santi\/2019\/07\/14\/santi-kathina-celebrations-20th-october-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Santi Kathina Celebration &#8211; 20th October 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All are welcome to come and celebrate the Kathina alms offering day with us at Santi this year, on Sunday 20th October, starting at 10am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the word \u2018<em>kathina\u2019<\/em> actually refers to a type of wooden\n frame used to make robes in the time of the Buddha, the Kathina season \n(the month following the monastic rains retreat period) has become a \ntraditional time for Buddhist laity to express their gratitude to the \nBuddha, Dhamma, and Sangha by offering requisites and other support for \nthe sangha and the monastery.
